Do you provide financial support for groups or individuals to attend the negotiations?
Unfortunately, no. There are some organisations out there who provide limited funding to youth from underrepresented countries to attend the UNFCCC negotiations. However, the focus on Connected Voices is on enabling those young people who do have the opportunity to go to the talks to raise the concerns of those who do not. Rest assured, we also do not provide funding for any of our team to attend the talks, they must fundraise themselves in order to attend.
Do we have to be an environmental/climate change group to be involved?
No! We welcome any group working with young people who would like to raise their voice at the UN climate talks to take part in Connected Voices. To get started, register with us here.
Your messages will be taken to the conference and displayed and conveyed in the most effective way possible. For example at the last conference, youth representatives at the conference held signs with the messages we received next to the travelators that the negotiators took to enter the conference center (you can watch a video of that here). This year we hope to be able to install a permanent display in the conference center and show a short video of some of the responses during one of the main meetings. If you have ideas for how you’d like us to display the messages, let us know by contacting us!
Yes. In our registration form there is an option to tell us who you would like to partner with. Please note, however, that if you express a preference for a group or individual that already has several partners, we may link you with a different partner. You can find out what groups are already involved to get an idea of who you might like to partner with here.
Yes we will! We work to provide resources such as draft emails, contact details and engagement templates. We want to make partnerships as easy as possible. If you would like to be supported in any other way then please get in contact and we will try to help.
No problem! Our registration form allows you to tell us if you already have partnerships, so that we can register them as part of the project. We’d also love to hear from groups who already have partnerships about what lessons you have learned about making your relationship work. If you have some advice, contact us here!
Easy peasy! Just fill in this form.
We’d love to hear from you about any aspect of the Connected Voices project. Just drop us a line on the contact page and we’ll discuss your feedback during our next call.
Well first, we’ll take a couple of weeks holiday! But come the beginning of 2014, we will be compiling a report for our partners, donors, friends and supporters to tell everyone about what Connected Voices achieved at the COP. The beginning of next year will also see applications open for a new steering committee, so keep an eye out if you’re interested in becoming part of the team behind the project!
